Material Girl

Remember when I said I got some amazing gifts for my birthday? Well, this dress was one of them! I was SO ecstatic when I opened up the present and saw this gorgeous yellow dress staring back at me, I now am a believer of love at first sight. My dear friends Courtney and Hillary bought me this gift, it's from Madonna's clothing line Material Girl.

Hunter and I decided to finally try out a famous local Fish and Chips stand called Red Fish, Blue Fish which is located right on the Victoria inner harbour. It was worth the hour wait!

How sweet is my necklace? Another great Value Village purchase!

I hope you are all having a lovely week, a long weekend is coming up here in British Columbia! Camping may be taking place... post to come!

Buskers & Gryffindor

The 2011 Busker Festival is going on right now in Victoria and it's been a blast! I love watching street performers, the things they can do absolutely amaze me! Walking dowtown during the Buskers is so exciting because every corner you turn, you run into a different act! Flame throwers, Contortionists, Jugglers, you name it!

Hunter and I decided to take a walk and see what acts we could stumble upon, cue the Aerial Angels! These three ladies feature amazing acrobatics with aerial fabric. I wish I could do some of their stunts!

Because we just jetted out of the house on a whim, I decided to keep my lounge clothes on and funk them up with some awesome H&M shoes. When I looked in my closet to grab a jacket, I saw my Gryffindor scarf that my Mom got me from Harry Potter World and thought: YES, I'm totally rocking it!! I thought it was fitting considering the Harry Potter premier was that day as well.

I love having fun with fashion, and how much fun is pairing platform wedges with a Gryffindor scarf? Sometimes you just have to go with it, and love it!

Rainy Day Red

Victoria has been rainy and gray for the past few days, and today was no exception. I personally don't mind rainy days, they're a great excuse to curl up on your couch and watch TV all day without feeling guilty! I had a few errands to run today, however, so I had to change out of my pyjamas and into my rain boots!

We decided to take a detour and walk along the downtown Wharf, there's something beautiful about being by the water on a rainy day. The smells remind me of being back on the East Coast and the layer of fog over the water is enchanting.

I am IN LOVE with this umbrella I found at a thrift store here in BC. It's the prettiest vintage umbrella I've ever seen! I love the idea of having a bright coloured umbrella to pop during rainy days. The red of this umbrella is faded the perfect amount and I love the black leather handle and gold accents. All for $1.50? YES PLEASE.

My Hunter rainboots are a huge staple in my wardrobe. I literally wear them year round (I have liners for them in the Winter months) and I'm tempted to get another pair in another color!

I hope you are all having a lovely day, rain or shine!

Birthday Girl

It was my birthday this past Thursday (23 years old...eeek!) and I couldn't have asked for a better day! The sun was blazing with not a cloud in the sky.

I knew it was the perfect day to break in some of my new H&M purchases from Toronto! I am in love with this flouncy blouse, with its wide sleeves and open slit back it's the perfect piece to dress up or dress down.

We started the day off by picking up a few much needed groceries, then went for a walk in the park and headed to an oyster bar for "buck-a-shuck" (yes, this means a dollar per oyster) sooooo delicious! Bonus: a dollar per oyster means more money for champagne.

Later that night friends came over to our apartment for cake and drinks, then we all headed out for a night of dancing! I got some amazing gifts that I can't wait to share with you...one of them being a tri-pod, wahoo!

Thanks to all of my friends who came out and made my special day that much more special! And for my friends and family across the country, thank you for the love via mail! There's something so special about recieving cards and parcels in your mailbox that makes you feel extra loved.

OH Canada!

Canada Day was on Friday, and I decided to show off my Country's colours proudly (while still looking fashionable, of course)!

Some friends and I took place in a "Canda Day Living Flag" event, which is exactly what it sounds like...thousands of people in Victoria came together and created a living flag!  It was pretty neat to be a part of, it made me feel so patriotic!

Later that night we watched Canada Day fireworks from a friends balcony, then headed to a bar to dance the night away (all the while dressed in Red and White and waving around Canadian Flags).

My outfit took me from day to night, with the perfect amount of warmth for the night and coolness for the day! This Old Navy blouse is so light, loose and airy- it's the perfect summer blouse to throw on and feel fresh all day long.

I hope all of my Canadian girls and boys about towns had a perfectly patriotic Canada Day!!
