Sunshine & Frills

The other day we stumbled upon a bike race happening downtown Victoria. I had fun throwing in my random cheers for a while, then we continued on our way, enjoying the sunshine!

I got this sweet skirt from H&M a little while ago, on sale for $15...A STEAL! Confession: I couldn't contain my small squeal of delight in the changing room, and I think the girl next to me was slightly afraid.

My shoes are from Chinatown in Toronto. They are an absolute staple in my wardrobe, and cost me only $3...yep... three bucks. I stock up everytime I go to Chinatown.

Here's hoping for lot's of sunny skies this summer!! (and even sunnier sales)

Ships Ahoy

This necklace is one of my favorite necklaces that I own. Actually, when I saw it at Value Village I picked it up and put it on as a joke because I thought it was so hideous, but then I looked in the mirror and it was instant love. Something that I really love about it is that it looks just like the ship on my home Province's flag, New Brunswick. It's like I'm wearing a little piece of home!

I wore this outfit on our way to Vancouver for the long weekend. Boat on the necklace, boat to Vancouver, so many boats!!

Stripes & Balloons

I got boyfriend some helium balloons for a welcome home birthday surprise. Fun at the time, but over a week later they are still floating around our apartment... he refuses to get rid of them until they deflate. Cute, but not fun for me when I stumble to the bathroom at 3am only to have a minor heart attack when a dark figure is hovering in the doorway.

For birthday celebrations we went to a local pub for "Music Bingo" which was hilarious and so much fun to play! The Bingo card consisited of a jumble of songs from the 70s-2000s, if you heard a song on your card, you stamped it! 2 lines wins your table a pitcher of beer! We didn't win... but I was one song away!

I found this sweet, simple dress at H&M and can't wait to play around with it! It was a cooler night, so I paired it with tights. It's going to be a staple in my summer wardrobe, that's for sure!

Hope you all had a lovely Victoria Day weekend! I went to Vancouver, photos to come!

A New Take on the Birthday Suit

It was boyfriend's birthday on Monday and because he doesn't like cake (don't ask me how we're still together) I had to make something that would satisfy my sweet tooth, and his non-dessert liking tooth. I thought these dapper looking strawberries were a perfect compromise. A bonus: I was able to add two layers of chocolate, with him being none the wiser.

Start off by dipping the strawberries in melted white chocolate. I melted the chocolate by putting it in a heat proof bowl and placing the bowl over boiling water. I find that makes the chocolate melt perfectly smooth. Once the strawberries are dipped, place them in the fridge to harden.

Melt the dark chocolate the same way and twirl the strawberries in the chocolate so only the white "V" is showing. Then dot on the buttons, place in the fridge, eat a delicious dinner, and by the time you're finished- you're suited up strawberries will be ready to be devoured!

I went by this recipe from TLC's The Kitchen Boss... secretly in love with Buddy. He has so many great recipes!

That's Life, That's What All the People Say

Last Friday we had some friends over for drinks and...can you guess it....GAMES. (I'm beginning to see a pattern, are we turning into game night junkies?) either way, I'm fine with it. We decided to play the classic family night game, LIFE.

When we saw this game at Value Village, we knew we had to get it. Who doesn't like the game of life? The only game where you can be a Superstar and make $100,000 on Pay Day.

Again, with the mirror shots-sorry! We got caught up in our game, then went out to a pub so I was left on my own to take photos when we got back. I love pink- especially the brightness of this shirt! My necklace was a DIY, inspired by an H&M necklace that I wanted so badly but unfortunately was sold out before I could buy it! If you can't buy it...make it!

Taboo

On Friday night we had some friends over to our apartment for drinks and games. I truly believe that sometimes the most fun nights with friends are spent in! We had such a hilarious time playing the game Taboo, which is actually pretty challenging!
Here's a sample from the game for you to try: Get someone to say "Mall", but you aren't allowed to say the words "shopping, indoor, stores, buy, place"....can you do it? It's tough! But it's also a great way for you to learn to expand your vocabulary.

Once I get a tripod, I swear my photos will be more interesting!! For now, this little corner of my apartment will have to do.

Hacky Happy

When moving to Victoria, one of the first things I was told  was that  I would have to learn how to "Hack"... aka play hacky sack, in order to fit in.  They weren't lying. It's EVERYWHERE out here! Let's just say...they can tell I'm not a local.

The other day, the weather was beautiful, so I went out with my boyfriend and a few of his friends to have a BBQ and play some hacky sack. I snapped a few photos of myself before heading out (classic mirror shot- hate it) Tripod= birthday gift??

The boots were a must- great padding for my shins. The top bun was also necessary to keep my hair from falling in my eyes- maximum hacky sack viewage. ( I still failed miserably)

Vancouver Please

Hi All!

This past weekend I travelled to Vancouver for the first time EVER. It was amazing.

We took a ferry from Victoria, and the ride was breathtaking, we were able to stay out on the deck the entire time!

What a beautiful city. We couldn't have asked for better weather! The mountains were in perfect view, and when walking around all I needed was my leather bomber.

Kisses from the 2010 Olympic host city!! Hope you are all having a great week. The job search is still on for me!
